Mission EDC Team Expands; Hires Director of Strategic Partnerships and Program Development
MISSION, TEXAS – April 5, 2016 – Mission EDC is excited to announce the addition of Teclo Garcia to the Mission EDC team. Mr. Garcia will serve as the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Program Development where he will assist the EDC team in the development of strategic partnerships and funded programs/projects in accordance with the objectives established in Mission EDC’s strategic plan.
The position will support Mission EDC in the planning, coordinating and implementing of a comprehensive program to further identify strategic partners and develop funding opportunities to expand and diversify its project and program portfolio. “The Mission EDC Board of Directors along with the City of Mission City Council are thrilled about Mr. Garcia coming on board. His extensive experience at the local, state, and federal levels will not only help strengthen the organization but will make us more competitive as we seek state and federal funding for current and future projects. The Director of Strategic Partnerships and Program Development will play an integral role as we continue to expand on our programs,” said Alex Meade, Mission EDC CEO.
Mr. Garcia previously worked for eight years at the City of McAllen as the Director of Government and Public Affairs managing the city’s legislative and public information efforts. Prior to McAllen, he worked at The Arizona Republic in Phoenix, where he spent 2003-2008 as a senior editor in charge of reporting teams and helped the newspaper’s parent company develop content for Hispanic audiences.
Mr. Garcia also led The Brownsville Herald as Editor in Chief from 2001-2003 and helped the newspaper win the prestigious sweepstakes award from the Associated Press for it’s reporting. Mr. Garcia has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Texas State University-San Marcos and is a six-year veteran of the US Air Force and served overseas during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
